Beaches of Mallorca

The beaches of Mallorca are the island´s greatest attraction and the main reason for the large number of people who visit Mallorca year after year. With more than 50 kilometres of beaches spread over more than 250 different locations, Mallorca is the perfect place to enjoy a beach holiday, while relaxing in the sun. 

What´s more important, thanks to the different landscapes on the island, is that all the beaches in Mallorca are different and each one has something special to offer their visitors. 

The beaches of fine white sand are the most characteristic of Mallorca, but you can also find beautiful pebble beaches or beach coves formed by large smooth rocks. 

That is why we would like to share with you a list of different beaches in Mallorca, each one with different characteristics and environments. Most of these beaches are located to the north of the island, all different from each other, each one with their own ambiance. But without a doubt all of them are worth visiting and enjoying during your holidays in Mallorca. 

Playa de Muro

Playa de Muro is one of the most iconic beaches on the north coast of Mallorca. Divided into 3 parts, first, we find the Els Capellans area located at the beginning of Muro beach, next to the beach of Can Picafort. This area is usually visited by local people. It has umbrellas, sun loungers and a free parking area; a perfect place to relax and enjoy the crystal-clear waters that surround it.

The next area is Es Comú, a protected area located on Muro beach. This sandy area is located between the vegetation of the Albufera of Mallorca, the sand dunes and the crystal-clear waters characterize the area. To get to this beach, you take a walk-through pine forests that will lead you directly to this fine white sandy beach. 

The last sector of the Muro beach is the area with the most leisure amenities and shops. Surrounded by several hotels and restaurants and it is a blue flag beach, it also has bathrooms and showers for all its visitors. Like the Capellans area, it has umbrellas and sun loungers to relax and gain shade from the sun without leaving the beach. 

Alcúdia Beach

At 3.5 kilometres long, the beautiful beach of Alcúdia is one of the must-do visits during your holidays in Alcúdia. It is a quiet beach with golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Plus, it is located just a few meters from our magnificent Astoria Playa hotel. 

Alcúdia beach has showers, changing rooms and enough bathrooms for everyone going to enjoy the area in comfort. Alcúdia beach is famed for the amount of water sports available. Close by you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, paddle surf, a great way to enjoy the beach from a different angle while you are immersed in the sea. 

Thanks to the fantastic weather in Mallorca, it is possible to enjoy this beach for much of the year. Also, having such a large area, you never have the feeling that the beach is overcrowded, and you always have space to rest, relax and enjoy Alcúdia beach.

Formentor beach

Formentor beach is unquestionably a true emblem/gem of Mallorca. Surrounded by a beautiful pine forest, it is the ideal place to rest and refresh yourself during your holidays in Mallorca. It is a place where beach and nature mixes creating an ideal environment. A place where the typical Mediterranean vegetation meets the golden sands and turquoise waters that surround it. 

This beach has very easy access and has a car park so you can leave your car close by. There are umbrellas and sunbeds, but you can also enjoy the natural shade that the pine forest affords; this stretches the entire length of the beach.  The beach of Formentor has two restaurants where you can have a drink and / or eat, what´s more Formentor beach is a blue flag beach, yet it still has the scenery of an unspoiled virgin beach. 

After spending the day on the beach of Formentor, do not hesitate to follow the road and at the end the of day watch the sunset from the spectacular Formentor Lighthouse, a beautiful viewpoint, it will captivate you. 

Beach des Coll Baix

The crystal-clear waters and the pebble beach are the best-known features of the Coll Baix beach. It is one of the most pristine beaches in Mallorca, and perhaps because of its location or its access, it is not usually very crowded. On this beach, you will not find any amenities so do not forget to bring everything you need to spend a spectacular day on its wonderful shoreline. 

From the parking area you will have to do a short walk of 20 minutes to get to the Coll Baix beach. In this place you will see how the cliffs of the area mix with the sea, creating a place of beauty without equal. Due to the rocks that form the beach, it is a beautiful place to snorkel and enjoy the mysteries of the seabed. 

The Coll Baix beach is usually visited by some special guests. During your visit to the beach, you often come across goats, a native Majorcan breed, that roam freely along the beach; keep your food safe as they can be quite cheeky at times.
