Hiking in Alcúdia

Of all the excursions that can be done on foot near Alcúdia, there are some that really stand out. What´s more! Whatever your abilities, there´s a route to suit you.

In summer, it is better to take short excursions that lead you to the sea, nothing beats a cooling dip, or paddle, in the sea, after a long walk. On the other hand, in winter, thanks to the cooler weather, longer excursions are easier to tackle. However, whatever the temperature, we always recommend you take water and snacks and anything you might need to make your excursion the perfect day out. Don`t forget your phone or camera for that Instagrammable shot.

The Alcúdia Watchtower

This excursion leaves from the Ermita de la Victoria and takes you to the Atalaya de Alcúdia. There are several ways to reach the watchtower, depending on whether you want to do a circular route or walk in one direction, returning back the way you came.

The circular route of the Atalaya de Alcúdia takes about  5 hours on this walk  you will enjoy panoramic views of the entire bay. It is of medium difficulty because there is only one climb, and it´s not very steep. The other route is shorter, at only about 3 hours, where, along the way, you can enjoy nature at its best, especially the distinctive flora and fauna of Mallorca.

Once you have reached your destination, you will discover the Sanctuary of Victory, a 17th century refuge, constructed in the Baroque style. A visit to this place will help you learn a little more about the history of Alcúdia.

The Albufera natural park

The L'Albufera de Alcúdia Natural Park is a truly unique place; it is the area with the highest diversity of vegetation and animals in Mallorca. It covers an area of 32 kilometres squared and there are various trails of different lengths and difficulties that you can follow. The choice is yours, depending how far you want to walk, the weather conditions and where exactly you want to explore.

The route we recommend, through the Albufera de Mallorca, can be done with a guide or on your own. Of course, a guide will point out important facts as you go along, including showing you the birds that migrate here , the different plants that exist in the area and the history behind this beautiful site.

This excursion is suitable for children and can be done in both in summer and winter. In summer, you have to take into account the heat of midday, so we recommend you do it first thing in the day, or late in the afternoon.
