If you also want to get to know the best cycling routes in Mallorca, read on! Here we tell you everything you need to know to spend a dream vacation touring the island on wheels.

Formentor

In Formentor you will find one of the most famous cycling routes in Mallorca. You can cross this peninsula on one of the most beautiful roads, while enjoying the incredible landscape.

Some time ago this road used to be full of rental cars and buses and it was often very difficult to move around the area. Since a few years ago, in summer the road is closed to private vehicles to avoid crowds, so it is one of the quietest routes for cyclists, who will enjoy the road practically for themselves.

To do this route you can leave from Playa de Muro and go to Formentor, passing through Alcudia. The route that borders the coast is of medium difficulty and suitable for the majority as it is not too steep. The best part of the route? The incredible views of the Mediterranean that await you when you reach your destination, the Formentor Lighthouse.

Coll de Sa Creu

This circular route is one of the most evenly balanced cycling routes in Mallorca. It has a climb at the start, although the return is almost all downhill so you won't get too tired. The route starts in Palma and goes to the municipality of Calvià, passing through the Coll de Sa Creu, so it is a perfect way to get to know the area.

As in most cases, the best feature of the route is the surrounding landscape. The roads that run through the countryside of Mallorca are incredibly beautiful and will allow you to get to know the island in a very different way.

Sa Calobra

Going down to the cove of Sa Calobra is only suitable for the adventurous. Sa Calobra is probably one of the most difficult and uneven cycling routes in Mallorca, with more than 2,000 meters of gradient. Not everything is inconvenient, this route of almost 80 kilometers of winding roads offers some of the most beautiful landscapes of the northwest coast of Mallorca and will allow you to see the wildest and most unspoiled side of the island.

Starting from the Port of Soller, you will begin the ascent to Puig Major, the highest point on the island, along a road that passes through dense forests and borders two large reservoirs. During the ascent, you will find some places along the road where you can rest and replenish your strength with a natural orange juice or the typical "gató de almendras" or almond cake, while enjoying the views. Once at the highest point, a descent of incredible curves and impressive views begins that will take you to the famous port of Sa Calobra.

Serra de Tramuntana

Riding through the Serra de Tramuntana on two wheels can be a unique experience and a real adventure for the most intrepid cyclists. If you don't feel strong enough to ride the 110 kilometers of one of the longest and most unevenly-spaced cycling routes in Mallorca, we recommend that you take it in sections until you are completely prepared for this incredible journey.

The route starts in Pollença and goes to the municipality of Andratx, passing by Puig Major, the highest peak on the island. During the route you will also pass through some of the most beautiful coastal villages of Mallorca, with charming stone houses, such as Banyalbufar, Valldemossa or the valley of Sóller, known among the inhabitants of the area as the "Valley of Orange Trees".

The area of the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is one of the most spectacular parts of the island and one that you must see if you are visiting Mallorca. Nature lovers will find in this area a true paradise, full of wildlife and with landscapes filled with cliffs, lush forests of pines and oaks and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Mallorca offers a wide range of choices when it comes to cycling routes, so you will always have a lot of options depending on your level of experience and preferences. Whatever route you choose, we are sure that you will enjoy this sport on the island and will be eager to return even before you have left.
