The Beaches of Mallorca

There are many places to visit in Mallorca in summer, many of which will take your breath away, one of the main reasons many visitors come to Mallorca in summer is for its idyllic beaches. 


If relaxing in the sun is your thing, then Mallorca is the perfect island to enjoy a beach holiday with more than 250 different beaches to choose from, you will always find the perfect beach for you. 


What’s more, the best thing about the beaches in Mallorca, no two are quite the same, and all have something special to offer. Depending on the area you visit, you will find beaches with fine white sand, but also pebble-strewn beaches or idyllic shorelines bordered by large smooth rocks.


Alcúdia beach

Surrounded by the Albufera de Mallorca and Alcudia’s leisure areas, lies the Alcúdia beach, a fabulously long sandy shoreline with everything you need to spend an incredible day on the beach in Mallorca.

 

Thanks to its proximity to the leisure areas of Alcúdia, just a few meters from the beach you will find a great selection of bars and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat or something to drink or if you fancy some shade.


S'illot Beach

 

Located very close to Alcúdia, you will find this incredible stony beach. It gets its name from the small islet a few meters from the beach, which is so close, that there is no need to swim to reach the islet, you can simply wade across.

 

The beach of S'illot, thanks to the rocks that form the shoreline, is ideal for diving and snorkelling, all kinds of sea creatures hide in the rocks ... We are sure that a swim to the seabed will fascinate you! 


Cathedral of Mallorca

 The cathedral of Mallorca, also known as the Seu, is one of the most iconic monuments in the city of Palma. The cathedral was built in 1229. Over the years, it has been restored and modified many times, one of the modifications involved the renowned architect Antonio Gaudí.


The cathedral is rectangular and is divided into different naves. Inside there are works of art from different periods: Gothic, Renaissance and contemporary. One of the greatest spectacles of the Cathedral of Palma is its large rose Gothic window; a must-see item if you visit the Cathedral. When the sunlight hits the window the interior of the cathedral is flooded with an amazing array of colours


You can also climb the steps to the roof where you enjoy some of the most spectacular panoramic views across the city of Palma.

After you visit take a walk around the Parc del Mar which is just below the cathedral a wonderful place to admire the cathedral from a distance.


The Formentor Lighthouse

On the northernmost peninsula of Mallorca stands the lighthouse of Formentor, an impressive lighthouse surrounded by nature, cliffs, and beautiful views out over the Mediterranean Sea.


The Formentor Lighthouse is the perfect place to visit by bicycle.  Once there, why not cool off and relax while enjoying the views and some of the best sunsets the island has to offer. In addition, before reaching the lighthouse, you will find other viewpoints that will allow you to enjoy the spectacular beauty of this very special place.


The Alcudia Albufera

If you are going to stay in Alcúdia during your holiday in Mallorca, you must explore the Alcúdia Albufera. This is a Spanish nature reserve, a unique and environmentally important area.  Located next to Playa de Muro, it is an ideal place to discover the unique flora and fauna of the wetlands of Mallorca. 


There are different ways to explore the Alcúdia Albufera nature reserve, one of them is to hike around and enjoy the various trails and footpaths. Another way to explore the Albufera is by bicycle. For those who love cycling, discovering the Albufera on your bike is a great way to explore the wetlands and get up close to nature.
